For his martyrdom, Guru Tegh Bahadur’s death anniversary is celebrated on 24 November as Martyr’s Day. Guru Tegh Bahadur was beheaded by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb at Chandni Chowk for not accepting Islam. Today there is a gurudwara named Sis Ganj at the same place. Guru Tegh Bahadur was very brave since childhood. Guru Tegh Bahadur showed great bravery in the war against the Mughals in the country. Because of which he was known as Tegh Bahadur. Guru Tegh Bahadur was quite proficient in archery as well as the sword, horse riding, etc.

The age in which children were busy with story and play, at that age i.e. at the age of 14, Guru Tegh Bahadur showed extreme courage in the war against the Mughals. Guru Tegh Bahadur saved Kashmiri Pandits and Sikhs at a time when they were being forced to convert to Islam.

Guru Tegh Bahadur established Anandpur Sahib, one of the holy places of Sikhs in Punjab. Apart from this, Guru Tegh Bahadur was also the founder of Patiala, currently called the fourth largest city of Punjab. Guru Tegh Bahadur made people aware of traveling in a large part of the country.

Guru Tegh Bahadur has written 115 monuments in the Guru Granth Sahib. Guru Tegh Bahadur is primarily known for his defense of human values, ideals, and doctrine. For this, Guru Tegh Bahadur did not even care about his life. Guru Tegh Bahadur gave more time to the society than his family.

The Mughals were greatly disturbed by Guru Tegh Bahadur for the Islamic mission of forcibly making Hindus Muslims, who were assassinated in 1675 in Delhi on the orders of Aurangzeb. In such a situation, the day of Guru Tegh Bahadur’s assassination is celebrated as a Martyr festival.
